ABOUT DR. ALIREZA HASSANI NAJAFABADI


Dr. Alireza Hassani Najafabadi received his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. During his PhD, he developed nanoparticles and evaluated their performance in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases and cancer. He also received his additional PhD in Chemistry from the Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. Dr Hassani has been a Terasaki Fellow at the Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation since August 2021. Dr. Hassani’s at the Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation is developing new immunotherapies and vaccines at the interface of immunology and engineering.


RESEARCH OVERVIEW


Dr. Hassani’s Lab design new drug delivery systems for improving immune functions in the context of cancer, autoimmune diseases, and obesity. Our translational immunoengineering research utilizes tools of nanotechnology, biomaterials, drug delivery, tissue engineering, and advanced high-throughput methods to detect and improve immune functions.
