The Terasaki Institute hosted its annual Open House 2024 which brought together the community of Woodland Hills, California, for an exploration of cutting-edge bioengineering research done in-house. Held over four hours, this event was a testament to the institute’s commitment to bridging the gap between research and translation, as well as science and the public.
At the heart of the Open House were the demo stations, each offering a glimpse into the groundbreaking work being done at the Terasaki Institute. Visitors had the opportunity to interact with scientists, learn about innovative technologies, and witness firsthand the impact of bioengineering on healthcare and beyond. There was also an area at the front displaying our history in organ transplantations. From tissue engineering to personalized medicine, the demo stations covered a wide range of topics, sparking curiosity and inspiring future scientists.
Attendees participated in raffles, with lucky winners taking home prizes. Families enjoyed the festive atmosphere, as children engaged in hands-on science-based activities mimicking hydrogels, electrical boards, and more. The photo booth in the lab captured joyful moments, creating lasting memories for all.
The Terasaki Institute recognizes the importance of community involvement in scientific endeavors. By opening its doors to the public, it not only reveals complex research but also inspires the next generation of innovators. Families with young children discovered the wonders of science, college students explored potential career paths, and seasoned scientists found renewed passion in sharing their knowledge.
The Terasaki Open House 2024 was a great success, leaving attendees with a sense of wonder and a renewed appreciation for the power of science in transforming lives.
