Los Angeles, CA – August 14, 2025 – The Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation is pleased to announce its 2025 Media Contest, inviting creative individuals worldwide to visually explore the fields of biomedical science and engineering. The contest accepts submissions in video, animation, and image formats—including AI-generated art—that capture the innovative spirit driving advances in healthcare.
This year’s contest theme, “Shaping Life, One Breakthrough at a Time,” celebrates the discoveries and innovations transforming human health. From lab bench to real world impact, show us the breakthroughs that inspire you through your creative submissions.
Open to the general public, with the exception of TIBI staff and affiliates, each participant may submit one original entry accompanied by a creative title and a brief description between 50 and 100 words. All entries must be submitted along with a completed submission form and a Release of Liability. The submission period runs from August 13 through November 30, 2025. Following submissions, public voting will take place in December, with winners announced in January 2026.
The prize awards remain the same as last year: a grand prize of $1,000, second place prize of $500, and third place prize of $250.
Reflecting on the success of the 2024 contest, themed “Beyond the Horizon: The Future of Bioengineering,” the Terasaki Institute received outstanding entries. Terasaki Institute CEO Ali Khademhosseini commented, “We were truly impressed by the creativity and talent displayed. The entries beautifully captured the intersection of art and science.” The grand prize winner was Ranan Aktas for a short video titled “Peering into the Microscopic Universe,” which revealed the hidden beauty of microscopic worlds. Second place went to Prateek Singh for his photograph “Vasculature Printed-on-Order,” and third place was awarded to Mohammad Nazeri for his creative work “Symphony of Hydrogels: Blossoms of Automation,” inspired by Pop Art.
