The lecture will cover the historical connection between the cell immortality and mechanisms of cancer and the role of TERT in anti-tumor responses. Furthermore, I will present recent work on telomere length and the discovery of an intronic genetic variant in the TERT gene associated with a dysregulation of intra-tumor T cells.
