Junmin

Junmin Lee, Postdoctoral Researcher

Junmin received his BSc and MSc in Materials Science and Engineering from Yonsei University in South Korea. During his Master's degree, his research focused on the development of chemical sensors. He received his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. His research was the application of biological materials with various biophysical and chemical cues including stiffness, matrix protein, geometric feature to different types of cells varying from mesenchymal stem cells to cancer cells. He found that not only robust matrix protein patterning on hydrogel substrates is successfully obtained for the capture of single or multiple cells, but also combining geometric cues with defined substrate stiffness and matrix ligands can tune cytoskeletal tension and modulate the degree of cell fate decision. He joined the Khademhosseini lab in June 2017 as a postdoctoral fellow. He has been seeking to apply his experience and training in fabrication of biomaterials and cellular bioengineering to a new and exciting field in the Khademhosseini lab.
