Angeles Baquerizo, MD, is a transplant surgeon specialized in multi-organ abdominal transplantation, general surgery and hepatobiliary surgery (surgery of the liver, bile duct and pancreas).

Dr. Baquerizo received her medical degree, and general and digestive surgery degree from the University of Cordoba, Spain. After completion of her surgical training, she obtained a tenured position at the University of Cordoba (professor titular), where she practiced general surgery and transplantation. She holds a PhD in surgery (transplant immunology) from the University of Cordoba, and is the recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship.

In 1995, she moved to the United States, and completed a fellowship in liver, kidney and pancreas transplantation at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and a general surgery residency at the University of Southern California (USC).

Her research has been focused on transplantation tolerance, xenotransplantation, bioartificial liver and liver tumors. For her research in transplantation, she received the Fujisawa Award from the American Society of Transplant Physicians and the Fujisawa Faculty Development Award from the American Society of Transplant Surgeons.

Dr. Baquerizo strives to deliver patient-centered care with dedication and compassion. She believes in open, two-way communication and values her relationships with patients and their families. Taking the time to listen to her patients is essential to her practice. By thoroughly understanding their goals, she is able to provide education, while always remaining sensitive to their needs.
