Himansu Nanda

Dr. Himansu Sekhar Nanda received his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, majoring in Biomaterials, from National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan. He holds B-Tech in Biotechnology and M-Tech in Nanotechnology. He was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia, and a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore. Currently, he is working as an Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM) Jabalpur, India (an Institute of National Importance, Ministry of Education, Government of India) and heading Laboratory of Biomanufacturing at IIITDM. From August 2022-Jan 2023, he was a Research Scientist at Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation (TIBI), Los Angeles, USA. Since Feb 2023, he has been working as an Affiliate Faculty at TIBI and has collaborated with the core scientific team of Dr. Ali Khademhosseini. He holds a few visiting positions: as an adjunct Assistant professor at the Beijing University of Chemical Technology and a Visiting Scientist at the State Key Lab of Molecular Engineering of Polymers, Fudan University, China. He has edited the special issues "Biomaterials: Future of Biomaterials 2021" and Biomaterials: Intelligent Biomaterials 2023" in the journal Current Opinion in Biomedical Engineering (Elsevier, 2022 IF: 4.16) and "Biodegradable Polymers for Biomedical Applications Vol-1 and Vol-2" in the Journal Frontier in Materials (Frontiers, 2022 IF: 3.5). He is currently a guest editor for special issues "Advances in Metallic Biomaterials" in the Journal Bioengineering (MDPI, 2022 IF: 5.05) and "Recent Progress in Biosensor Technologies for Detection of Exosomes" in the Journal Biosensors (MDPI, 2022 IF: 5.74). His research interests include designing, developing, and manufacturing new-generation polymer, hybrid and metallic biomaterial-based porous scaffolds and surface coating technologies for regenerative medicine. He is also interested in nanomedicine, biomechanics, and 3D printing of implants.
