Bruna Gregatti de Carvalho

Bruna Gregatti de Carvalho received her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Brazil in 2016 with sandwich graduation at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (RHIT), USA. In 2015, she joined as a visiting scholar in the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), USA, where she worked on molecular dynamics of proteins. During her undergraduate studies, she developed theoretical models and performed experimental analyses for better understanding different biological tissues (skin, hair, etc.). As an undergraduate student, she also completed an internship at Johnson & Johnson Brazil in the Research and Development Center, where she supported wound care projects. Currently, she is undertaking her Ph.D. thesis in Chemical Engineering at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil. Her research focuses on developing targeted lipidpolymer hybrid NPs and hybrid biodegradable microgels for gene delivery. She has expertise in microfluidics for the development of nano and micro-hybrid biomaterials. Bruna joined Prof. Khademhosseini’s lab in November 2021 as a Ph.D. visiting research scholar at Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Innovation (TIBI). Here, she will be conducting research in the biomaterial field to solve gene and drug delivery problems. She has been seeking to apply her experience and training in developing and characterizing novel biomaterials to a new biomedical field in the Khademhosseini lab. She is looking forward to learning more from TIBI’s scientific teams.
